Ticks
After days of bad weather, moisture, coldness, humidity and just plain misery, its perfect outside! Nature is calling and all you want to do is go run around the backyard for hours or watch as the kids play to their hearts content! This is a wonderful reality that many Americans get to experience often but is also a reality that can lead to major discomfort later when it is discovered that night or some later period that there is a small beetle looking creature that is borrowed into the skin and is feasting on the blood of its host. The small yet robust tick is just such a creature, it can jump incredible distances landing on its passing prey and then dig with a screw like mechanism on its head into the soft tissue of its carrier. Many think that because they live in a modern and clean neighborhood that this is no longer a threat to them but the opposite is true as they often discover from a routine checkup on their family backyard pet who happens to be covered in ticks fat to the brim ready to drop off and reproduce.
What is so tricky about ticks is when they borrow into the skin the borrow deep and are therefore very difficult to remove. If they are yanked out their head will often detach and remain implanted in the body. There are a few gentle techniques that work but the patience required to employ them is often overlooked by just how creepy it is to look down and see it attached or to feel your smooth conditioned hair only to hit a unwanted bump.
